Dakar
Dakar Quartzite is a premium natural stone quarried from bedrock in Brazil. This quartzite showcases a light silver background accented by soft grey veining that sweeps gracefully across each slab. Occasional hints of cream and beige run through the grey veins, adding depth and warmth. The natural movement and color variation create a refined, marble-like appearance while maintaining the strength and resilience of quartzite.
Because quartzite is harder than granite, Dakar is ideal for high-traffic applications such as kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, and interior walls. During the polishing process, an epoxy resin is applied to fill natural pits, cracks, or fissures without affecting the beauty or integrity of the stone. Some minute pits may reopen during finishing, which is typical of natural stone and does not compromise durability.
Each slab is book-matched, meaning slab one and slab two are cut and polished to create a mirror image for seamless veining flow. To reinforce strength and handling safety, a mesh backing is adhered to the reverse side of each slab.
Dakar Quartzite is stocked in a Polished finish, available in 2cm and 3cm thicknesses, and typical slab size of 130” × 79” (sizes may vary slightly).
Proper sealing is essential for preserving Dakar’s long-lasting performance:
-
Use Miracle Sealants 511 Porous Plus or Dry Treat Premium Impregnating Sealer.
-
Apply 3 coats during installation and 1 coat every 6 months thereafter.
-
Seal all cut edges before installation to protect from moisture and oil penetration.
