Calacatta Quartzite
Calacatta Quartzite is a crosscut quartzite quarried in Brazil, admired for its resemblance to Italian Calacatta marble. This stone, sometimes known by its vein-cut variety Macaubas White, combines a soft white background with subtle linear grey veining, resulting in a clean, timeless look suitable for both modern and traditional spaces.
Unlike marble, Calacatta Quartzite is significantly harder and more durable, making it an ideal choice for kitchen countertops, bathrooms, and wall applications without the scratching or etching associated with marble.
During finishing, an epoxy resin is applied to fill minor natural pits, cracks, or fissures inherent to the stone. These natural characteristics do not compromise quality or performance. As a crosscut quartzite, each slab presents its own distinct directional movement; consecutive slabs may not book match perfectly. For precise design coordination, it is recommended to view slabs in person before fabrication.
This material is stocked in a polished finish, with 2cm and 3cm thicknesses and an approximate slab size of 130” × 79” (natural stone sizes may vary).
To ensure long-term beauty and protection, proper sealing is essential:
-
Use Miracle Sealants 511 Porous Plus or Dry Treat Premium Impregnating Sealer for best results.
-
Apply 3 coats upon installation and reapply 1 coat every 6 months thereafter.
-
Seal all exposed edges before installation to prevent water and oil absorption.
